Bronx Masquerade Week #4

By,Ryan
Date,Mar.31,11
Grade,6th
Author,Nikki Grimes
Poem,Imagine
pg149-150

I chose this poem because this person in the poem is talking about imagination and if she has it. I thought it was smart writing about the years gone by and you get boring and boring that's true about this in life this happens face it we are getting old slowly. But forget the past and look to the future. Make life fun don't waste it on T.V. This poem inspired me to live my life better like water slide, Go biking and so much more  you don't  need money to live your life. What I saw in this poem was me getting older as fast as lighting in front of a mirror looking at myself. Like 1 year old growing to 12 years old to see how I grown and grown my imagination.

All those adventures with your friends in the backyard past now where into video games and T.V. Get a life people or at least play outside a little. This entire book changed my life never to generalize people for who they are. When I read this book I hear, fell, touch, smell, and see like a kid being bullied. Because of my skin color and because i'm different. This book feels alive to me. I had this happen to me before because a kid at are school was black well guess what the entire class thought he was stupid because of his skin color and had a the name Anthony. But at the end he became the smartest person in the class. I made friends with him i'm not sure about the rest of the class. This book had alot of connection's to me and loved it but didn't get it at the start.

Bronx Masqurade Week #3

 By,Ryan
 Author,Nikki Grimes
Title,If
pg,27-27

This was a weird poem because the person who wrote the poem likes this one girl or something and said at  every sentence would you laugh.Or hes trying to help him feel good it just sounded weird to me.But I liked it how it started with IF.My question to the character is why are you make somebody laugh or make them feel better? Or are you just talking to yourself? I selected this poem because it's like the If poem I made in class.

Bio-Poem

I wish I could be normal
Like every one else
And I dream to be a basket ball star
I am tall and good at basket ball
I used to be no one
But now I got a gang after me
I seem to not take this seriously
But I'm really starting too I dont want to be like Sterling.

I wish I can be a super hero
Like super man
And I dream to be free
I am being bullied at school with brothers
I used to get along
But now I get bullied
I seem to be different
But I'm really just the same as you.

Bronx Masquerade Week 2

By,Ryan Gr6
Author,Niki Grimes
Title of poem,Zorro
pg,22-22

My response to this poem is that this is a 12 year old kid acting like a 6 year old. This kid is pretending to be a super hero in a comic book. He calls himself Zorro. He describes his hero with a cape, super strength, and laser vision. My reaction was I would like to be that super hero with a cool cape. But he now Knows its kiddish do play super hero for his age.I would ask the character I mean Zorro why does he like super hero comics? What made you start acting like one?I think he would respond by saying that he first say a T.V. show of super hero's and his friends showed him there cool new super hero toys.I chose this poem because the first sentence hooked me.Call me Zorro. Also the poet put the poem in the shape in  z.Once I had a connection to this poem.I always pretended that I was the most smartest person in the world and would fly around and around with my giant mind powers to huver off the grownd.

Bruised Loved pg15-16
by Chankara Troupe
I felt hurt like being punched in the face and tired inside.Running away from my fears.I chose this poem because it felt so realistic but hurtful the way they detailed the poem. This author is a good poet I would like to hear more of her poems. The same thing happened to me with a rock flying to my head fast and all almost hit me in the eye but only in the head.I had a huge cut on my face it hurt bad but no scar. What I would say to the character is why is he bullying you how? did it start?I think he would say I don't know he just started on me maybe because im different.
